Just think of the space required for certain submissions. All this talk about snaping the arm off in one second and rolling out of it. It sounds good hypothetically speaking but has anyone ever tried that? In any form of ground fighting training, even in my BJJ class, I've never had someone say OK today you're going to grapple on the ground with one guy while another guy tries to pound you into the mat at the same time.

Shouldn't you try to focus on using your whip, not submissions? or maybe that wristwatch one that stops time or whatever?

Also, having a drill in BJJ where you try to sub somone while someone else beats you up is interesting, but to be totally fair I don't think anyone would try a quick armbar on someone if:

1. the other person was within even 16 feet
2. the person to be armbarred might have significant grappling training (which would slow down the process greatly).

which is difficult to replicate in class. I don't think Johnny was saying "You should armbar people in multiple attacker cases because the armbar is fast", I think he was saying "If you can get someone in an armbar, it's only a half-second more to **** up their arm, not a slow but steady increase in pressure like when you're rolling".
