Man sentenced for slashing fiancee with samurai sword

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A man who slashed his fiancee with a samurai sword during an argument was sentenced Tuesday to five to 10 years in prison.

Brandon Burnett, who claimed to be a "samurai warrior," attacked Lea Marie Turk with a three-long sword on Nov. 20 when she sat on him during a fight. Turk said she had been mocking Burnett's fighting ability before the attack.

Turk, who was five months pregnant with the man's child at the time of the attack, has since given birth and told prosecutors she plans to marry Burnett in prison. Burnett, 22, of Philadelphia, initially faced charges of attempted homicide but prosecutors dropped that charge when Turk refused to testify against him. Burnett pleaded guilty but mentally ill to charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Doctors diagnosed Burnett with paranoid schizophrenia.

Turk had to have a large portion of her right hand, her left thumb and two fingers on her left hand surgically reattached after she tried to shield her body. She also had cuts to her scalp, chest, arms and legs, police said. Doctors were unable to save Turk's right pinkie finger.

They were allowed to breed? Oh dear god, more work for social service professionals, though maybe some SCARS professional could have prevented this tragedy (By deballing this idiot in time)
