Chicago journalist interested in joining the cause...

    Hi there,

I'm a freelance writer currently holed up in Chicago for a graduate program at Northwestern U.

Though I've got no real martial arts experience (3 months of JKD doesn't count really) I am fascinated by the whole McDojo concept and have been enjoying threads on here for some time now.

I'm currently in between projects and would just like to offer my services to any Chicago area Bullshido members who'd be interested in teaming up to investigate some possible McDojos.

I recently wrote a quickie profile of a Tang Soo Do teacher in Chicago (I was mostly confused by what I could find on the net about the style, enlighten me maybe?). I want to write more about this stuff.

Anyway, write me if you're interested in checking out some Chicago-area places sometime (or if you have any story ideas...)

Its not a McDojo exactly your looking for, but rather Bullshido itself. If you can, do a story in Coda Scott, and get it published in a paper. Or my personal favorite, Washin Ryu karate.

Washin Ryu Karate, WTF!?!? Is that a McDojo car wash or something?

Isn't Chicago where that fat Dillman follower got embarrassed by Foxnews a few years ago?

I'd love to assign you to a thread with all the information on it, and have you write it up for us.

I'd be interested in that. Are there any in Chicago that have been written up already? Or elsewhere I suppose.

Do you guys ever pitch your threads to local papers in the communities where these people operate?

I'll let Samuel, as a Staff Member put you on something, but my suggestion would either be the Coda Scott or FSD, with the preference being FSD based on their size and the potential audience the article could get in the mainstream press.
"Listen to Iscariot you Vicchysoise ninja-fuckers!" - kohadril
"Are you going to rise to godhood out of the ashes of Earth? " - frumpleswift
"I'll pray for you Iscariot." - Mas
"Iscariot, check your pulse and report back. We need to know if you are in fact, not alive." - Lu Tzu
"Iscariot is victorious!" - Dai Tenshi
    "More God delusions." - DAYoung
"Iscariot, despite our obvious doctrinal differences, I salute your exquisite bastardry, and take back half of all the bad things I ever said about you." - Zendetta

FSD might not be the best choice, since the OP is in the US, and FSD solely in Canada.
