UFC's The Ultimate Fighter 5 Casting Call

UFC's The Ultimate Fighter 5 Auditions are tomorrow, Dec 1 @ Seminole Hard Rock in South Florida. Anyone planning to go, either to audition or just to watch and meet some of the guys? I'm considering going just to check it out and maybe will try the audition process even though i would be outclassed on all fronts; it'd make a good story. Anyone interested in going to try out or just watch? Usually some of the past fighters are there, and Dana definitely will be. The focus of this season is lightweights, so it's geared for fighters who can fight at 155.

I'll care about TUF casting when they have a super-heavy weight class.
You can't make people smarter. You can expose them to information, but your responsibility stops there.

No way, heavyweight is boring enough at the moment!

So is the next series all lightweights? If so will it be just one contract at the end or what?

Went to the TUF5 casting call on Friday and it was interesting. Will do a more in-depth writeup sometime later. Dana, Charles McCarthy, and Rory were the people that I recognized. Over 240 people came out and it was all for lightweights, though there were some guys there who looked like they were walking around close to 200. My part of the tryout didn't last too long, as I got tapped in like 8 seconds; embarassing, but I'm really new to this :) More to follow..

Kurse, someone I know who went to the auditions told me that they were apparently looking more for personality than fighting ability, and selected quite a few lack luster fighters (one was someone that he tapped out pretty quick and the other had something like a 2 - 8 record). The personality type that they were apparently looking for could best be described as "colorful" (i.e. brash, extroverted and confrontational). If this is the case, apparently, Dana White is more interested in the antics that go on in the house than quality in the ring.

Was this your impression, too? If so, looks like TUF 5 is going to be more like MTV's "The Real World" than ever.

Oh, and congrats for stepping up and at least trying.
