    Secondary Weapon

Any other LEO's that can recommend a decent secondary? I've heard the S & W .38 is excellent.

My friend who is a Suffolk County cop in NY, uses this as his secondary:

    He bought the hammerless version.

You cant go wrong with a S&W, They are still offering this model in all steel, I always like the fact you could single action the first shot if you have the time with the Body Gaurd shrouded hammer. You still have the choice of a double action first shot too.http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...04&isFirearm=Y

They Make a great backup gun for Alaska but I prefer a 4 and 5/8ths barrel on the Ruger Super Redhawk.

If the **** hits the fan and you've lost your primary, the best secondary is whatever sidearm is held in your partner's hands.

Whatever you may decide, anything not on the department's list of approved weapons could be used against you. You should probably start making your short list from here.

A couple of my LEO buddies carry those. Very nice, compact and reliable.

Most carry both a knife and a smaller pistol/revolver. I sure as hell would.

    The GP's are nice actually. I own a GP100 with a 6" barrel.
