WBO champ Harrison can't defend title
Wed Nov 8, 4:21 PM ET
LONDON - WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison, jailed in Spain on an assault charge, will be unable to defend his title Dec. 9 against Nicky Cook.
Harrison was arrested for an alleged assault in Malaga, Spain, on Oct. 6 while training for the fight. The 29-year-old fighter has a history of depression and alcohol problems.
"The situation with Scott is obviously very disappointing," promoter Frank Warren said Wednesday. "For the last month or so we've been advised that he would secure bail and be in a position to defend his title."
Warren said it was unclear if the WBO would allow Harrison to keep his title.

Usually in this case, don't they create an interim champ if it's a short-term issue?
