I recently went to a seminar where this was presented -- apparently a great many clubs practice it, not because it is particularly a great throw for everybody, but because it is a good lifting exercise. I myself find it difficult to get into the grip for it (we were taught a sameside grip for the entry).

That's exactly what crossed my mind, suplex-like uchi mata done in the opposite direction as uchi mata proper.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris -

Since the kurtka has "belt loops" and belt is threaded through the jacket, I'm guessing you get better grips for this kind of throw. I was coached in judo (by a coach with a Russian style training background) to keep my belt loose enough that it will slide up and down my torso.

So basically you are starting O-uchi gari, then throwing him via his nutsack?
