    I didn't see it mentioned in the OP but maybe I missed it... one thing I like to do when clinching is tuck my face behind my bicep and keep everything real tight so the other person can't stiff arm their way out of my clinch. Even my old instructor had a some difficulty breaking my clinch (the one time where he actually let me clinch him).
