It's great if you're 8-10 inches taller then your opponent
There's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you. I've gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain. I will use my mistakes against you. There's no other choice.

Hmmm, they can work if you're quick enough, defending from one isn't too tricky, stepping away tends to get you hit, its far quick to just slide in with a head cover and a punch them whilst still moving forward. Should generally cause them to fall over and look rediculous...

Silly..unless the guy is on his knees and dazed. I do remember seeing some vid of a guy getting KO'd by one once though...
Very low percentage = too big a risk.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. Maybe you've had much more success with this kick than everyone else here?

Yeah, it's not a great kick unless you're good enough to make it work.

I've seen Rick Rufus use it in a combo after feinting a low round kick.

Good to impress judges. A good axe kick will hurt but will almost never KO your opponent, except if it lands on his nose maybe?

I think it really comes down to high percentage vs. low percentage, and ...if someone is good enough to use an ax kick in a kickboxing match, they don't need to be asking on bullshido if it's a good technique.
