    Sick armbar video

I'm not sure if this has been posted here before, but this is the worst break I've ever seen:

jesus. I like how the guy just gets up and walks away while the other one is writhing in pain.

What kind of armbar was that?

Isn't this the one where a white belt took on a black belt with predictable results?

That's taken from a Dansih SW tournament. The man in black is BJJ Black Belt Joao Pedro Santos who runs the Choke academy. The whole ordeal caused plenty of controversy, with many people blaming JP for what happened. It was a real internet based **** fest with people arguing back and forth for a long time.

To me it seems as if the guy who got his arm broken simply had some prior issue with it though. I mean, we've all gotten our shoulders bent way too far at some point, and it doesn't just snap like that. JP was a class act after what happened too. He visited the guy in the hospital, gave him a ton of stuff and a life-time membership at his academy. It was just an accident.
I pointed at him [the panhandler], bringing my rear hand up in a subtle approximation of the double Wu Sau guard that is the default hand position in Wing Chun Kung Fu.

    "Step away," I hissed.

    I think it's an americana.

As for the rest, I had a look into this as well and several sources including JP indicate that it was just a freak accident, he was as much to blame as you or I would be if we were applying that technique in practise and our partner's arm snapped like that.

    It is a Kimura...

arm bent this way (up)...L = Americana
arm bent this way (down)...7 = Kimura

the problem was with this jack ass tournament if I remember correctly...I think the loser had only 6 months experience, if I remember the story correctly.
There already was a thread where all of this was discussed at length...somebody find it and link it here.

You're right. I was going based on the angle the guy was holding his arm at after the winner let go, rather than during.

That's a bloody nice technique as well - reverse triangle and attack the the other arm with a kimura. Very impressive.

any BJJ black belt could easily pull that off against a person with 6 months shooto experience...makes it look easy.
