Gracie Nationals

Anyone going to this? I'm going to be compeating in both Gi and No Gi. In no gi, I'll be in the 17 year old, 155lbs and under division, and in gi, the whitebelt 17 year, and i'm trying to stay under 147 LBS so I can compeate in that weight class.

White belt 160 pounder I'll be there with bells on (or at least gi and a pair of fight shorts).

Are we gunna see some sweet Aikido from you? Sankyu --> Omoplata combo? Look for the blue belt with the green "killer rabbit" patch on the back of his gi ( actually it is a cut up t shirt). We should talk.

Nah, but I do plan to win with some kind of standing pin/wrist lock...yea...that's the ticket....

I'll be wearing my carlson gracie shirt, balding and blind as a bat in matches.

Everyone be sure to bring a pillow and blanket, it isn't uncommon for you to be stuck camping out in the hall all day waiting for your division to start. I went a couple of years ago, my divsion was scheduled to start at 11 am, I didn't step on the mat to compete until 10:30 pm. Have fun!!

At the last NAGA in chicago that I went to I actually did take a nap between no-gi and gi divisons. My wife left, and went out with her mom and had dinner, came back and woke me up in time to eat, move around and get warmed up.

After atrociously poor organization and reffing at previous Gracie events. Especially ones run by Relson. I'll never go to any Relson event ever again. Naga and GQ has really upped the bar as far as how a jiu-jitsu tournament should be run. Plus there are tons of alternatives popping up in the midwest like Caique's tournies, Naga, and some smaller ones here and there.

I placed first in Gi, and had no points scored against me. I lost my first No Gi round, though. My oponent pulled guard while standing (He saw all my wrestling throws earlier, and decided not to do standup with me), and stayed their the entire time, and won by 2 points (how he got it, I dunno...)

Also, yeah it was horribly ran.

And the fights afterwards weren't very well ran, either. One of the door broke and they had to secure it with, get this, peoples fucking pants and jiu jitsu belts. I took a picture with it on my phone. Some dude fell through the door and landed on his head and was down for about 5 minutes.

But the strippers weren't that bad, heh.
