Don't know about all that but it was one of your students that came on here talking ****, not the other way around.

giu/chris, I don't understand why you are dissapointed at Leo. His response was very polite and to the point, and it was with the purpose of addressing "giufight" denigrating comments on Leo's rank as a brown belt. If you have a problem with the fact Master Rollyson and Edson got involved in this, you should talk to "giufight" first. He was the one who started it for no reasons at all.

Moreover, the first person that came here to talk **** went with the name "giufight". Now, your user id "giu/chris", and your name is Giulio. All three start with "giu", and your writing style is no different from the person who first came here as "giufight".

It will be great if the mods can check the IP addresses of these posters. It smells like the same person.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

    Giulio,

Teh El Macho is correct. If this was not you that posted that and the message to Aesopian AND sent me an email last week then it is strangely coincendental. Also funny that the person who sent the email had the same writing style.

But I will take you at your word. I wish you the best and have always wished Carlos the best. I was responding to attacks on me and answering as honestly as possible. I hope your gym does well.

I only have one comment: you may remember that I was visiting Hollywood last December and wanted to come to train with you guys. I had a pleasent email interaction with you and El Macho, but when I finally arrived and called from my hotel, I was quoted $30 mat fee.

It's not that I'm cheap or anything, I have trained at many places on my business trips, from Boston to LA, but I have never seen $30 mat fee. Even training with famous people like Matt Serra. To me $30 mat fee sends a message saying "we don't want you here".

I hope you guys changed it, and if not, please do.

    Tomas

    Thomas,

I tried to answer but it didn't post. Sorry if this is a double post. Yes the fee is now $10.00 When you visited that was Edson's fee. Sorry but I thought i gave you my cell phone number to call when you were in town. Maybe i didn't but I would have tried to work something out for you since you were travelling.

Incidentially, Edson is my friend but when I went to his gym in Deefield Beach Fl recently he charged me $25.00! : )

Hey bro, it's all good, just giving you feedback. I called a number I got from somebody at mma.tv, some guy Mike(?). But it doesn't matter.

Take care and good luck with the gym.

Thanks Tomas. I will make it up to you if you come back down!

Thanks Aesopian. It was pretty obvious to me that Giulio was the person who posted the original message. I have had no issues with anyone who has left and I could not figure out why someone would attack me personally. Then I realized it must have been related to business. Carlos Rollyson is above this I believe and so I figured the only one that could be responsible for it would be Guilio because he was trying to build membership and thought by attacking us that would help him.

Guilio, I never had a problem with you personally when you were there and I thought you were a good guy. But what I posted is exactly the way I feel. It is unfortunate that you felt you had to attack me personally, especially since you had known me for only a few months. I would never have posted my feelings about training with you if you had not attacked me on an open forum. But those are my feelings. Still I wish you the best, I am sure your gym will be successful and I have moved on.

    Setting the record straight:

I have heard of the acrimony and animosity which has taken place regarding the history of our gym, so I thought I'd clear up a few misconceptions. First, when the e-mails come from the same web IP, they must be from the same person. Draw your own conclusions.
First, on Giulio's original e-mail, Edson left the school because it was not growing enough to justify his time spent. He was teaching 6 days a week and working a full time job. He had no family life and wanted that back. Plus, his other school in Deerfield is 5 minutes from his house. We left friends, he was paid everything we had agreed to as businessmen, and he was by the school last weekend for the Robson Moura seminar. We have spoken several times since his departure, and nowhere did he ever mention any hatred or animosity toward me or the school. When I told him of the original Guilio post, he confirmed it was none of his guys or him and he would never say anything like that because it wasn't true. Draw your own conclusions.
Second, when Carlos Rollyson left our school and went to teach at Guilio's school it was disappointing to all of us including me. While it is true I never paid Carlos during his tenure, not mentioned in Guilio's post was the agreement Carlos and I had arrived at as gentlemen. No money was given out until the school broke even. That was our deal. When questioned I opened up the books. Everyone present saw that the school had not yet gone into the black. So by our agreement, my business dealing was honorable and honest with Carlos. Draw your own conclusions.
I still have the greatest amount of respect for Carlos, and I have spoken to him on occasion since his departure, and to my knowledge we remain friendly, if not friends. I spoke to him 2 weeks prior to the Robson seminar, and invited him and his guys to attend. Draw your own conclusions.
Now on to Guilio. When he left our school, he contacted EVERY student to go join his gym in Hallandale. He had a key to our school, and basically pilfered student files for numbers and info. It was brought to my attention by 2 of the students loyal to the school. As it turns out, we lost only 1 student immediately and eventually 1 other that I know about. Big deal! Draw own your conclusions.
On the guys that train with him. I/we hold no anger toward them and wish them well. We don't know most of them, so why would we get involved in talking trash about them? Telling them "good luck, find a real school"?. Who needs that? They are just guys who want to train like the rest of us.

On Leo Kirby: He is a gentleman and a good instructor. Leo coaches our guys to NAGA events and won the Pan Am's in 2007. He has won numerous NAGA events. He is a true student of Jiu Jitsu. I'd say he is qualified to be an instructor. Edson himself told me he was going to promote Leo. Where does Guilio come off criticizing Leo? We also have John Davis, Jimmy Perez and other qualified instructors teaching kickboxing and boxing. Guys who are active competitors and/or have had impressive competition records.
Guilio can't stand me? I'll lose alot of sleep over that! I'm a nobody? Maybe I am. Maybe not. What you need to do Guilio is state fact. Please refrain from negative references to our school or me, especially those you cannot substantiate, or you may find charges filed against you. Your sophomoric tantrums will not be tolerated.

My thanks to you Luis, and Leo for your honest posts and support here. My apologies to the moderators for any sense of acrimony I have shown, but enough is enough and the truth had to be told. Everyone on this site can now judge the players involved. By the way, I promise I will not reply to any desperate rejoinders posted by Guilio. No need to, as you can see, I am above that.
