Is this a tournament that anyone can enter? I'd like to go but have no experience. I'm going to try for the NY King of Sanda in the C(beginners class) on september 2nd.

Would I be able to compete?

Hey, Made of Olives, where do I know you from? Thanks for the kind words.

Well, the BOB is amatuer, not pro. So, submit an application. If we get another first timer we might be able to put you in. But, most of the fighters do have much more experience. Last show we did put a few new comers though.

I've trained with a couple of times, most recently when I was preparing for NAGA. You and your club welcomed me with open arms, and really helped! This was back when you were at your old location.

Club is in the process of relocating but, we have grown quite a bit. I am lease negotiating and hope to have our own larger space by the end of the year.

1) We will have one four man tournament in the 96kg division (-211.2lbs).
-The winner of this four man will recieve a Battle of Brooklyn tournament belt.
-Please note that Oleg Savitsky will be competing at the World Combat Sambo Championships at the end of September so his participation in this event will depend on not getting injured there. In the event Oleg can't compete, we will have a stand it ready - or a three man round robin tournament.

Semi final match-ups are:
Anthony Argyros (Mike Monica/Carlos Santana) vs. Oleg Savitsky (Red Bear Sambo Academy)
Nolan Dutcher (Lionkill BJJ) vs. Mike Franco (Brooklyn Wrestling Club)

2) We will have one 60KG division match (-132lbs)
Vincent Beurrier (NY Combat Sambo) vs. Chad Washurn (Nashville MMA)

3) We will have one 66KG Division match (-145lbs)
Michael Wacker (Jungle Gym) vs. Scott Yockel (Empire Judo/Sambo Academy)

For the Battle of Brooklyn, it all depends on the fighters that apply. The event was designed to be advanced but, if we get appropriate match-ups in the applications, we will give the beginners a shot too. No applications, no fights. This time around, it worked out to be mostly advanced guys that applied for a spot.

We do have our north american championships on October 8th, which is a B level event. More restricted rules and shorter time period. It is not "beginner" per se, but, not the elite A division rules.
