Here, it seems like the goal is to get the elbow as close to your own body as possible, and then worry about the rest.
While it certainly can work, it is far better to keep the arm on the ground and drag it down. Not twisting it up.
    Very bad form.

What I was taught when I was there was to keep it low, posture back a little to roll the guy's body up some, and lift the attacked side up and then proceed to force the arm around via the created space. I'm not sure what the difference is here, but it must not be quite the same technique.

I guess if this is what we get from Frank, we really shouldn't expect much from Ken.
I swear to God, with that background and settings, that **** looks like homo watersports.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Maybe he is just sitting up so you can see how he grabs the arm for the lock. Without video it's impossible to tell.

True to an extent, but a good americana keeps the arm on the ground and drags it down. It is far tighter and harder to escape (you remove a spatial direction they can move).
    That is a bad americana.

    Margarida wins.

If this were Highlights For Children's annual grappling issue, this would be the Goofus and Gallant standing guard posture.

What right does anyone on this site have to insult Frank Shamrock? If anyone on bullshido stepped into the ring with him it would be a bloodbath. BJJers can badmouth his technique all they want, but did anyone happen to see Cesar Gracie vs Frank? That **** only took 20 seconds...
