Judo in mma by Karo Parisiyan...

I thought I would show this video on here hopfully it hasnt been posted or isnt moved, Especailly after the taio toshi thread. After taking judo for almost a year now I can fully appreciate how karo has been able to work in almost a full judo repertoire of throws and take downs. All of which after watching the video you can see he doesnt need a gi at all. You also as spotted by my judo coach can see that alot of the guys are uprepared at breaking there fall and in some cases get dropped on their haircuts even worse than they need too. Every throw he does seems to have minor adjustments to the grips but are very traditional. Now I know what your saying now... that theres tons of judo guys and guys in mma that use judo, ....but not like this guy. His record is impressive and hes very young, and for anyone whos seen his fights there always exciting and fast pased even in his losing efforts.

    Eduardo "Why'd you stop."

Me "I was kicked in the head by the guys sparring next to me."

Eduardo "Ino what happened but i didnt say you could stop."

Me "Um.. I guess I keep going."

Eduardo "You dont stop until i say stop, you dont get tired until i say your tired, keep going."

Another fighter who has a judo background is Shonie Carter. He doesn't have a shabby record either. I wanna by Karo's videos, specially the ones on uchi mata and ouchi/osoto gari... certainly not know since it would be a waste of $$$. But certainly later when I feel I'm in a better position (skill-wise) to learn from these videos.

    Nice find in youtube dude.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Yoshihiro Akiyama is another Judo guy in MMA that I believe is gonna get very far in the future. The guy is an absolutely sick athlete that seems to be learning striking at a ridiculous speed.

BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

And of course you have Hidehiko Yoshida and Pawel Nastula.

Though Yoshida needs to learn how to check kicks, and Nastula's gonna get reamed by Barnett tomorrow night... :|

What I like about Parisyan is that he's not stupid enough to show up and fight in a gi.

I think its disgraceful how Nastula just got thrown to the wolves right in Pride instead of having him build up his career first and learn the game better. Altough he is like 15 years past his prime.

Well, seeing as how that'd get him DQed in the UFC, it is a pretty smart move.
