    Muay Thai VS American Kickboxing

A very interesting video I found on youtube.

Rick Roufus is one of the best kickboxers ever to come out of the US, a six time world champion with about 60 wins in total.

He had a fight against Changpeuk Kiartsongrit, a Muay Thai legend from Thailand. This fight was under special rules, no elbows were allowed and the clinch was limited but leg kicks were allowed which is something Roufus was obviously not very good at dealing with being used to fighting under American Kickboxing rules.

Dammit, one of the queued videos was another leg break. Why the **** do I always watch those?

Isn't "American Kickboxing" the ruleset where you can't throw leg kicks and must throw a minimum number of high kicks in a round? I thought Roufus did K-1 kickboxing.

He turned to that later in his career, he started with the Full Contact Kickboxing crap and won the world title there 6 times. According to Wikipedia, he also tried out in Pro Boxing at one point. But when that fight took place he had only been doing FC American Kickboxing. I guess this fight was a wake up call for him lol

Edit: He actually did have a decent career in pro boxing: http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=7162

Rick Rofous recently fought at the Shin Do Kumite in Tampa. He beat Mehrdad, even with Mehrdad's Iron Body Thai Boxing...

I understand that he broke Changpuek's jaw in the 1st round of that fight, but after that it was all Changpuek.
