I'm guessing a judo throw or a slam would be frowned upon as well, so that would be my choice, too.

I have a question:
How easily is it determined whether the person to be restrained is intent on only hurting you, or only hurting himself? Do you have a policy stating that you should assume they could try to hurt themselves at any moment, for safety.
If you somehow knew they would not hurt themselves, couldn't you just try your best to defend yourself with a tight guard and circling?
I think if they would hurt themselves, it's much harder to deal with.Last edited by meng_mao; 10/15/2006 3:02pm at . Reason: gramm0r

Low amplitude grecco roman. Take them down softly. Safer than freestyle wrestling and judo since if you double/single leg somebody or throw them they have a greater chance of falling back on their head. Once they're on the ground, lock them in a squishy from side control until your buddy gets there.

You need to learn "Second orderly fu"
Particularly the "Large orderly who got your back because you spring for Subway a lot" ryu.
Seriously - the best way to restrain someone without hurting them is to do so with help. There's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you. I've gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain. I will use my mistakes against you. There's no other choice.

Bit of an unusual question (standup grappling)
