Sounds like you almost popped your knee. If you had, you wouldn't be walking right now, but you got very close. Maybe it's nothing, but maybe there is damage.
Dude, for the time being, wear a knee brace, and avoid sparring. Your knee hurts; it's telling you to check it out with a doctor. Just in case. The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris -

Yes I stopped right away and will be off for at least a week as I get it checked out. Im making an appointment to see a doc today and even when I can roll again I plan on wearing a brace for some time just to make sure.
My question though is, has this ever happened to anyone before from butterfly? Is the buterfly position prone to this type of injury? -
i keep tryin to spar, but nothin happens!

This is similar to how I tore my PCL and partially tore my ALC last May or June. Except I was being stacked and went to bring my around and in front as I shrimped back, i.e., I went to put in my right hook for butterfly but only made it to about the guys chest. He drove forward and dropped his weight on my ankle which torqued the knee pretty bad.

I bitched and whined about it a bit back then. I think there are some threads on rehabing the knee and "how to pick a brace" somewhere around here.
No grappling. Go see and ortho. Get an MRI. -
