    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Team patch etiquette question.

Okay, so I was given a patch for my Jiu Jitsu team. Personally I'm really happy that a white belt is wearing one and I have a question of etiquette regarding patch placement.

The back of my Toraki Jiu Jitsu Gi (awesome Gi by the way) has a seem on the back that no one wants to sew through. Where else on my Gi can I put a patch? I've seen them on the bottom flap of the Gi but didn't know if that was okay. Also, it's my first 'real' jiu jitsu Gi (they didn't let us put patches on our Judo Gis at the time) and I also have a little skull patch that I've had for years and wanted to stitch that on somewhere as well.

Sorry if this isn't 'technical' or anything but I figured the BJJ luminaries that stalk this forum might be able to spread some light on this.

PS - I also have a patch from my sponsor (NOGI) I don't suppose I should put a NOGI patch on my Gi, eh?

Here in Japan, there are rules to where you can put your BJJ patches. Like there has to be 5 cm or so difference between the bottom of the pants and the patch.

There is CBJJ requirements that you can probably find somewhere. I'll post them later if I find them.

Thanks, while I agree with The Villain I was sure there were some rules around the whole thing.

I've always been a fan of on the top lapel area on your chest or around the skirt in front of your waist (right below where your belt would sit).

But it doesn't matter at all.

Roughly 6-8 inches tall and about 20 inches wide. I just dropped it off at the local tailor lady and had her put in on the back about 4 inches down from the collar.

I'm still stuck on the NoGi patch though :(
