Maybe aikido should be what it intend to be... tertiary martial education.
I mean, it should only be open to people who already got black belts in one or two other martial art (e.g., Karate, kendo or judo) like it was in the good old days.
To keep myself in perspective, I mentality classify my judo as physical conditioning/atheletism vis-a-vis my yoshinkan aikido as Goshin-jutsu.
