Shinshoryu, so its the practioners who are to blame not the art? Is this what your really trying to say?
Where exactly are you in Lancashire, I'll see if I know of anywhere near you.

Right this is what intesive Google-Fu/ database searches revealed:
Preston is arse for MAs, so.....move! If that's not an option you could check the following clubs.
http://www.bjujitsu.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/index.htm JJJ club, could be useless, or could be good, go check it out (and write a review for the site while you are there).
http://www.lancaster-acima.50megs.com/index.html Initial I thought these were RBSD people, but a look at the instructor profiles reveals that they have trained in many arts........curiously they don't list any qualifications other than TKD, this makes me very suspiscious. Also the takedown video is crappling at best. Again check them out, let us know.
http://www.whitetigerkarate4u.co.uk/index.htm These people have an XMA section, so don't go to them, but this page interested me: http://www.whitetigerkarate4u.co.uk/nomorevaletudo.htm This means that there's a Vale Tudo club floating around near you. Google reveals nothing about a club or the instructor, so if you find the club locally, check his qualifications and side of the story over the White Tiger thing first.

In short, I can't find anything near you, Preston sucks major arse.

Ah ha! The Uni Sports Centre: http://www.uclan.ac.uk/other/fm/spor...ster/about.htm
Offers TKD, JJ, Kung Fu, Fencing, Aikido and Karate all in one place. Find a decent one there.

One last thing, if that JJ club is under the Jitsu Foundation, stay the hell away. I trained with our local branch and found it to be poor instruction and sloppy techniques.

Thanks for that. I never did meet Kanai Sensei, although I did have the pleasure of working with some of his students last Spring at Harvard. They are a good bunch of people.

I've always liked Kanai Sensei's down-to-earth points of view, figured I wouldn't be the only one.
Yes, his students are very nice people indeed.
