this one guy with awesome technique there said he trained at kombatarts 3-4 times a week, so he'll make the class worthwhile for me i know. (he said we'd roll before class next week, THANK FUCKING GOD).
and i'm sure they'll eventually get into real free sparring, it's just the 2nd class of the year after all, but i would think they would at least let the upper belts kill each other.
and another thing, while working on "technique", and i was working with this "black belt" (90lb lady), and i gripped onto her collar she told me i shouldn't grip so hard. wtf?
I guess it is kind of really bad after 4 hours of class i haven't seen a single full resistance thing going on between anyone. :\
AND ANOTHER THING.
a lot of the people there are really into ***** karate and kendo for some weird ass reason. seeing old men swinging wooden swords around just looks hilarious.Last edited by v1y; 9/27/2006 9:13pm at .

* Some judo clubs don't want you to randori (tachi-waza at least) until you've had a few classes under your belt, with the reasoning that if you're not used to falling, you will fall a lot and hurt a lot and never come back.
* Moving uchikomi is a valid training tool, but it is not randori.
* Gripping too tightly will actually telegraph what you are doing and is not a good thing. -

Guy Who Pays the Bills and Gets the Death Threats Style: MMA (Retired)--
You know, this would be perfect for our (coming soon) DojoReview system which should be ready in a week or so. Keep checking back in v1v and I'll move this thread there when it's ready and you can add ratings to it.
