    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Godspeed to Jeff Cooper

    From Ed, at Gunsite:

    Friends,

At the request of the family it is my sad duty to report the passing of
our founder, Jeff Cooper. Jeff died peacefully at home this afternoon
while being cared for by his wife Janelle and daughter Lindy.

There will be a private internment at Gunsite by invitation, with a
public memorial service at the Whittington Center at a date to be
    announced.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

    DVC,

    Ed

He will be greatly missed. Atleast, I know I will miss him for his vast contribution to his Guncraft.

    Most humbly,

    He was a great man.

    I'll miss his writings.

I used to have plans to contact him about writing a novella based on the story of his German friend in To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Tell the Truth. I thought I could flesh out the story (German conscript escapes from an arctic Soviet POW death mill and makes his way by stealth and deception from the arctic USSR to more-or-less friendly territory--without speaking more than pidgin Russian) and make deeper fiction of it. But I wanted to wait until I had a draft of at least a chapter or two to send him, and now that's one more thing that won't get done.

I imagine Colonel Cooper in an old-fashioned hunting camp telling stories all night and chasing buffalo and elephant by day. Forever.

Naw, he'd probably arguing with Applegate and Fairbain about how point shooting doesn't work. :)

    Sam's probably right.

I will miss not seeing Cooper's Corner anymore. (Well I already do, but that's a finances thing.)
