    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Why have a go at akidio or say bbj is the best?

    Hi

I am new here but from the number of posts I have read and articles I get the impression people do not value akidio. It seems people do not think aikido can help you in a street situation but bbJ and judo can.

    How is this?

Also there is a prepencity to say only grappling is they way to win a fight and strikes are secondary.

I tell u this I would not enter a fight and go straight to grappling without smacking him first.

Most of all I would AVIOD going to the ground like the plauqe. There is no way I would go to the ground if I could help it. Forget the mix MAs you see on cable, that is not real fighting. MOST fights do not end up on the ground. If you are on the ground, you are dead meat.

Going back to aikdio, well I think its a valid martial art, and can teach you self defence. It just depends who is doing it and who you are fighting.

    best wishes

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

That's great, do remember to keep your opinions to yourself, someone may actually read/hear it and take it to be made by someone who knows what they are talking about.

I'd also like to point your attention at the law where ever you live and it's definition of 'reasonable force'.

I will now keep quiet though as I've heard of the legendary striking powers of Aikido, and I fear for my well being, ever over the internet......

****! I've been watching Morris Dancing all this time?

Most fights? Source please. Otherwise that's called 'making **** up fu'.

That's great that you think it's a good art. I hope you're right, because if you are, my dreams of one day counting Amy Lee and Cristina Scabbia amongst my list of 'ex-wives' might also come true.

What is this 'who you are fighting' bollocks? If it doesn't work against certain people, or at least cannot be adapted it's flawed.

Just to put it in perspective, I did a year of Aikido at Uni, the technical standard was very good, but their ability to use it in a confrontation to defend themselves was minimal.

For god's sake, go read 'Aliveness' by Matt Thornton and then come back more educated.

I would continue, but I reckon this will end up shortly in Trollshido.

Use the search function, and if you are gonna make idiot posts like this, put it in Newbie town where you won't get your ass ripped for being an idiot.

Being a Student, the study of Beer Waza is compulsory. In fact I am getting ready for a night of debauchary right now. Fresher's Week, it's an all you can eat buffet.........

I notice there was no discussion of my responses, those at least point to some of the reasons why Aikido isn't taken very seriously.

It wasn't a legitamate post, you provided no sources to your claims, just personal opinion and speculation.

As the Great Mod Anthony (PBUH) has pointed out, go post stuff in this form in Newbie Town until you can put it into a form that won't get you killed.

There are posters on here who study Aikido and a great deal of posters, including staff, who study TMAs, so no, we don't 'hate' TMAs.

You did akidio for only one year and now you think its bullshuto, fair dues if that your a opinion but I fear you have anger managment issues. Also doing any MA traditional or mixed for one year is really calling the kettle black. ITS NOT LONG ENOUGH SHERLOCK
