I think what this thread indicates is that there is still some confusion as to what we mean by aliveness. We have had people before show videos that they thought were better than the average stock on the net, but in reality lacked aliveness and therefore evidence of effectivness. It's true that this is a demonstration, but take any effective art out there and you can find tons of footage of technqiues performed under alive conditions along with the technical, non-resistance demos.

Oni, what method did you use to evaluate bujinkan's effectivenss? Becuase when I first started I thought it was the absolute bomb becuase I saw guys throw around and lock up compliant partners that used lunge attacks and body positions that make it easier for the techniques to work. You know how 99.9% of dojos out there train. The same way they train at the hombu. Compliant, scripted drills and that's all they do. If people out there are teaching how to fight within a fully alive context, then they either made it up or took it from somewhere else becuse you won't get it from scripted, non-resistant, non-mobile drills which is 100% of the officially endorsed method. Have you ever tried judo, wrestling, MMA, BJJ, kickboxing? Becuase maybe you might find that guys with 1/10 of your training in sparring and resistance based arts can run rings around you.

If you have actually schooled equal or greater time-in-training MMA or judoka then good for you. I present you with the medal of T3h R34l Taijutsu.

Well, you're right. There isn't anything that could be said about the bujinkan's methods that hasn't already been said. What did you think would come out of starting this thread? You know as much as I do the issue has been flogged to death. Tell us what you think is so good about those clips becuase from what I see, it isn't a realistic scenario at all.
