    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Xenia Old Fashioned Strength Challenge, my fourth strongman competition

It's going to be this Saturday September 16th in Xenia, OH. Competing against some good guys so far, one's done some high-level comps and placed well and the other got 2nd over my 3rd the last time I did Xenia. If I can get 1st or 2nd place, I'll get a shot to go to Nationals in Louisville, KY where all the big dogs go to try to win their pro cards.

There's going to be five events:

    1) Atlas Stones
Carry a 208 stone 10ft and load it onto a 55-gallon barrel, carry a 235 stone 5ft and load it onto another barrel, then finally load a 280 stone onto a barrel. You have to do the whole thing in 60 seconds or less.

    2) Frame Carry
450lb frame, you have to carry it for 100ft, with a turn at 50ft. Gotta finish it in 60 seconds or less, no penalties for drops. Naturally, no straps.

    3) Axle Deadlifts for Reps
Basically shooting to do as many reps as you can with 315 on a 2" thickbar in 60 seconds. Belt and suits are allowed, no straps though.

    4) Log Clean and Press (clean each rep)
Since I've slimmed down to compete in the under-175 class, the log will be 175lbs. It's an 8" which is smaller than the one I train with, so the clean will be harder but it will be easier to press. Max reps you can do in 60 seconds.

    5) Vehicle Pull:
From the sounds of it, we'll be pulling a firetruck. They do have an ambulance there too though, so who knows. Gotta pull it 100ft in under 60 seconds.

Anyways, I've trained hard for this one and feel stronger than ever. Did a mini-contest today and performed well, just resting up now and hoping to kick some ass Saturday. Pix and video will be posted.

I'll do my best. A couple strong guys I'm up against though, so it'll be a war.

    Good luck on your competition.

I hope, you don't mind, but I've shown your videos to people who were interested in strongman training and power demostrations. They were all impressed, most comments were something like "well, he's pretty strong for his weight", or "why is he wearing a kilt?".

I really hope to see you someday in Eurosport, flipping cars.

Thanks guys. Got some goals set for me this time around:

    1) Get all three stones. I've only had a 225 but I feel confident the 235 won't be much trouble. The 280 is the one that will probably give me trouble but since I'll have tacky and massive amounts of adrenaline pumping I hope to get it.

    2) Finish in a competitive time, I'm thinking under 25-30 seconds.

    3) Shooting for 15, just a couple more than I did in training.

    4) Get 4 reps at least.

    5) Finish in a competitive time, I'm thinking under 30-35 seconds.

Good luck. Xenia is only about 12 miles or so from where I'm at in Fairborn.

I actually stayed in Dayton last time I competed there. You should check it out, admission is either free or like $5. It'll be right outside A House of Prayer.
