    Hell yeah! Hell no!

vulnerability of spinning after a missed kick?

In countless kickboxing and even MMA matches, you'll see one fighter throw a leg kick from too far out, whiff it, and spin around back into stance.

I can't recall anyone ever taking advantage of this.

    1) What are the reasons for the opposing fighter not trying to strike as the kicker is spinning back around?

    2) What would be a good response? Cut kick? Cross to the head? Teep?

Generally if they're spinning through the kick it's because you've jsut stepped out of range and thus are not in much of a position to quickly counter.

But it does happen,In one of my fights from this weekend (Kat vs Natalie in the WAKO thread) I think I managed to come in and capitalize on the spin a bit when she would miss a kick.

what she said, generally you miss because the other person stepped back and it takes longer for them to step back and then come forward then it does for you to finish spinning.

I think you guys are right, but I swear sometimes I see half hearted kicks that just tap the knee a little bit, and the other fighter is in range to counter.

You can also easily continue a new kick from that spin position. I used to love baiting people that way so I could back kick them.

i think it's because the other fighter doesnt know that kick is just going to tap their knee a bit and is bracing for a huge impact and thus doesnt have all their mobility and doesnt want to get caught in the middle of trying to punch or something and stumble as it just looks bad.

I see a lot of people get tagged after a kick, but it's always when they DON'T spin all the way around and end up leaving their back or back of their legs exposed

It's generally one of these moments:

"damn he just missed me and is spinning so I should close the distance and take him down or kick him... damn, he is already facing me... oh well, maybe if he does it again..."

"damn, he just did it again... ok, next time..."

"for fucks sake... is this guy lame or what? And why am I so damn slow in capitalizing... fucker"

but according to Sifu Abel, you only need that fraction of a second to capitalize on it if you're actually half way decent!
