How to make a medicine ball for $5

    Here's a poor mans medicine ball :)

Works great, holds together well, and can be done for about $5:

Yeah but the things you can do with it are very limited in my experience. Ideas?

I saw the same process on another site. The other site was infinitely awesome because the narrator was a fitness chick.

    Good article though.

all sorts of upper body plyos...

double arm toss- straight shot or overhead, moving in a circular pattern, or just going side to side.

Single arms toss- can be done with a partner, or be done against the wall

Side toss- stand about 15 feet apart, and toss while to the the side

Back to back- back to back and hand it to eachother

Gut shots- have it thrown into your gut

Superman- lie on the ball with it under your gut and lift your head and chest up off the ground.

Drops-- have someone drop it onto your gut

Pickups-- Stand next to the ball; squat to pick it up, and raise it over your opposite shoulder

Switches--Sit on the floor with your feet about 3 inches off the ground, and transfer the ball from one side to the other

Situps- You can do situps with the ball being raised over your head for entire rep

Pushups- Pushups on the ball, pushups with the ball under one hand, pushups changging hands on the ball

Squat jumps while catching and releasing the ball against a wall (if you have the bouncy kind)

I'm sure there's a lot I don't know about the medicine ball, but I remember these drills being pretty fun, and good for that burst energy I wanted at the time.

I don't think that's very limited compared to

Mine's lasted for about a year now, having seen all sorts of abuse. Of course I wrapped mine completely in duct tape, and if it ever wears thin on one side, I just add another layer.
