    Groin Strain?

I woke up this morning with a sharp pain on the inside of my leg between my hip and my knee. It is a localized pain and hurts when I try to squeeze my knees together very hard, or touch my ankle to my ass. Sittind down and standing up agrivate is as does shrimp crawling. My mobility when walking is a little limited as well. Although once I get warmed up to a jog it is not as bad.

Is this a groin strain or just some bruising from training? Should I see a doctor?

That sounds like strained abductors... yep, sounds like a groin pull. I think you should see a doctor only if the pain is so bad it impairs your mobility. So far, it only sounds like a common abductor strain.

RICE, an anti-inflamatory and rest for a few days would do. Massage your abductors with tiger balm or something similar. I would do that and wait for a few days to see if the pain goes away before going to a doctor... if it was me, and I'm known to be a moron :tongue6:

What the heck did you do? Did you force your leg to open up laterally or something?

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

I've been doing more judo the last few weeks. I took the summer off of judo to focus on bjj for competitions (naga and the like). I just got back to judo about 2 weeks ago. I've been sparing a lot harder in judo now due to my increased confidence and the fact I lost about 45 pounds over the summer. I'm guessing the pain probably has something to do with fat men trying to open my guard. I had a few hard ground sessions with a black belt on tuesday (Who's idea of a guard pass is elbows in the legs, which was also my idea of a good way to triangle him :-) ) and slight pain yesterday, but I of course went and did bjj. If it wasn't that I have no idea what could of caused it.

I had that same injury in Jan. of this year, that's exactly what it felt like but I had some referral pain also down to the inside of my knee. Mine was complicated by some torn attachments at the hip.

Mine was caused by a very ugly side sacrifice throw attempt on my part. I think a guy got one last night trying to counter an uchi mata at the practice I was at.

Did daily (3x) stretching, rode the exercise bike, iced, and no training for four weeks. Healed up pretty well, but I'm extra careful to stretch / warm-up that area and I always wear either compression shorts or a neoprene thigh brace.

I would see a dr. just in case if you have coverage. They x-rayed me to make sure no attachments needed surgical intervention. Better safe than sorry, if it turns into a 6 mo. rehab you will be pissed.

yea, I just made an appointment to be safe. I just tried to put my left ankle on my right knee while sitting in a chair and found it almost impossible to do. The pain did not go to my knee, but is very localized in that single spot. The dead center between my knee and my torso on the back inside of my leg.

I just recovered from one of these injuries... recieved a very similar way. Iced it for a couple of days and rested it for the rest of the week and I was good as new. If you're in pain it's probably not the best idea to go running. Good luck!

Is there a lump in the sore spot? That is supposed to be a pretty good indicator of a tear of some sort.

I just got back from the doctor, he sent me to get a massage. The chick worked it out in a very painful way, but now it feels 80% better. I can now walk without a limp and triangle my legs when I want too. I'm going to rest the weekend and go back to training on tuesday or wedsday.

Glad to hear it. I just found a massage guy who causes me an insane amount of pain. He says "I work to the tissue's threshold, not yours". Sucks, but in three visits I'm getting relief from a ten year old nerve injury that causes constant neck pain.

Anyway, I'm really glad you don't have to take a bunch of time off, that just sucks. I was just off three weeks due to a rib injury followed by a sinus infection and I could barely stand it.

There should be a warning on Tiger Balm that reads:

Warning: Do not apply Tiger Balm to your frank and beans

So be careful when rubbing that **** in that close to your chipmunk and nuts.
