Ran out of gas...

Ok, today something very bad happened to me...

I ran out of gas during my training.

I've been sick most of the week and avoided training since last Friday. I came into my dojo and started up with running for my cardio warm-up...20 minutes or so. I normally don't run, and 20 minutes is longer than usual, but I felt good today so I worked up a good sweat. Then I hit the weights for about an hour. General overall body workout, a bit of large-leg-muscles and then a bit of chest, dominantly inner and outer back. Then I wandered over to the bag room for my rounds...usually do a round of hands, a round of legs, a round of elbows and knees and then a round or two overall...3 minutes each. (sometimes I do less, but today I was gonna go all the way...)

I lasted about 50 seconds into my first round and suddenly gassed. I mean everything shut down on me. Breathing suddenly sucked, my ribs on my right side started aching (bruised or mildly fractured them about 2 years ago, they ache under heavy torquing like knees and chain-kicking) and my triceps suddenly went to crap, punches became sluggish, I started overextending on my jab and cross (jamming the elbow)...I mean I felt like a complete newb.

*sigh*

And I don't know why, except that perhaps I'm still trying to shake the last of this illness. I ate ok today, plenty of carbs, decent protein...*sigh* Who knows. Just very discouraging.

I'm sure others have hit these problems...any stories to share? Misery loves company. LOL!

Try rest and eating MORE carbs.

Hell yeah I run into these problems. I worked out this Fri and before no workout for 2 weeks. I was just too tired to do anything.

Actually, be wise enough to know when to train and not to train. It sounds to me you may have a bug, specifically something that could lead to bronchitis. Take about four days off and come back to see how you do.

Ummm...I didn't ask for an assessment (although thank you Omega, I didn't think about the extra chance of infection). I asked if others had other stories of a similar nature?

Oh, I'm sorry, I tend to speed read, missed that part. Yeah, its happened to me several times. Once during an actual pro-fight where I had to tap out do to irregular heart beat. The guy thought he choked me out, I told him he wasn't that good. Anyway, good luck in your recovery.
