Getting up in the morning to go to work is "true strength."

"Ryu is a Japanese stock character, the wandering warrior: a person whose life is entirely devoted to spiritual perfection through the art of the fist. He does not care about winning or losing so much as the moment of the fight and the opportunity for spiritual advancement."

What do you mean? He listed a bunch of exercise forums and their definition of strength. Since this is the physical health and fitness forum, why would you think "ahh... he means mental strength"?

Still, nobody has defined it yet. Reese said that it was the person, basically what's on the inside that counts. Yeah, great, but what does that mean? This is starting to sound like an Aikido circle jerk.

It's really hard to explain it if you're not familar with the concept. He is asking a question about that stupid stuff they talk about in martial art movies and video games. It's basically a MAP question.

For example Ryu travels the world fighting other street fighters in search of true strength. We don't know what true strength is but ryu is searching for it. And it's worth living as a wandering bum to find it.

Mas Oyama searched for it in the mountains.

Sorry I'm not sure how to explain this to you.

And thus the basis of my question. What demonstation of strength do you consider "True", what demonstation of strength do you aim for? Do you want to go out like babyface, or survive racial discrimination? Is true strength a surviving Indian? What's true strength to you?

    A journey, not a destination.
You can't make people smarter. You can expose them to information, but your responsibility stops there.
