    Well, I am of Irish decent. I know it is common for the Scots to use Mc and Mac interchangebly, but the Irish tend to only use Mc, leaving Mac to the Scots.

    That's one of the historical reasons (in the U.S.)for the derogatory terms "mack" (I know that's a "good" term now, but historically it was a racist term vs. Scots) in regard to Scottish immigrants, and "mick" in regard to Irish immigrants.

    That's good to know that Irish prefer Mc, it seems to be more popular elsewhere too...
