I just moved to Minneapolis and am looknig for some good mma schools. Trying to avoid the "****" if possible and google and the phonebook are not helping with this. I have been sitting in on a few sessions here and there, but was curious if anyone here had any help.
I am looking for a school that trains Sambo, and its a bitch to find. That the primary need. Other than that, I am up to more ideas... any help out there?

kind of complicated to do, but, you could check things like sherdog, or fightfinder.com, search for fighters and see if there are any school affiliations in your area... just a thought

I am giving that a shot. Its a bitch sometimes because most if it just says what they train, not where. I will keep searching

oh, thats right.... is there a website that is a worldwide headquarters for Sambo? that may be another avenue....

SAMBO sucks you should take kung-fu.
As you can see here there are no open SAMBO schools that I can find in the area:
Jiu Jitsu - Sometimes passing just isn't an option.

Well, if you are into Sambo, I take it you are into leglocks and good wrestling? If you can't find what you are looking for, see if you can find a good BJJ school that does some good wrestling or even offers classes in wrestling. If you can't find it, see if you can do the wrestling at a local club/college. As for the leglocks, you would have to look to a BJJ school that practices them, it's usually teacher preference as to how much if any leglocks most BJJ schools do. I doubt that you will find it in Judo since it's not allowed in comps. If you can't find what you are looking for in one place, try a few. If all else fails, it's time to start a grappling club, get some buddies and some really high quality instructionals and get some good wholesome crappling going on until you can find the instruction you need. You may find people in the area who have many years of experience but they don't run a school and don't have anyone to train with.
That is assuming that the reason you are looking into Sambo is because of the leglocks and wrestling.

Maybe Warrior's Cove, I didn't see it on the website but might be worth looking into.
