    Punching Technique

I've always been told that to throw a correct punch you should try to hit with the first two knuckles. But when I am hitting a bag my punches feel more solid when I aim with the middle finger knuckle. Normally I would just go with what feels right but I have had many wrist injuries and I thought this might be why.

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

I did do a search asshole. The only one I found was the article by Koto_Ryo that was helpful but he pretty much said it didnt matter. But it does matter to me because my punches feel stronger with the middle knuckle. I guess what I'm asking is what do you guys use.

Everyone's punches feel stronger with the middle knuckle for some strange reason. What you need to do is condition both of them (the first knuckle and middle one).
Try press ups on your first two knuckle or something.
There are some styles that use the last two knuckles as well, but I haven't practiced that.

I hit with the first two knuckles unless I screw up. Those are the thickest bones so they hold up better.

Yeah and they're wrong. Boxers punch way more than any other style. Boxers hit with the first two knuckles.
You can't make people smarter. You can expose them to information, but your responsibility stops there.

I'm not sure about this, so correct me if I'm wrong, but are the last two knuckles sometimes used in a hook punch?

only if you really **** up doing it.

way we do it for a straight punch is to twist the arm in a corkscrew while throwing it so that if you stuck your thumb out it would be pointing right at the floor. its all in the first two knuckles baby

Since this is heading toward circular logic town at light speed, I'm gong to preemptively lock it. I suggest everyone do a search if you are serious about this or drive a railroad spike through your head if you are just trying to stir **** up.
