I will never understand why Kyokushin, Daido Juku, Ashihara, or Enshin haven't picked up popularity here in the States.

We have every flavor of craptastic TMA in troves...but hardly ANY full-contact karate stuff.

    Canukyokushin-

I have been in contact with Robert Daoust of Montreal, who informed me he is part of a group starting a regular Kudo program. He mentioned to contact Max or Etienne at Heart & Soul Academy. He attached a .gif flyer with the school's contact information, but I was not able to open the attachment. Do you know anything about the Heart & Soul Academy by any chance?

Will this Karate crap ever end. The only thing I always see in this videos is people trying to freshen up things that don't work. Have you ever wondered why most judoka who fight in MMA learn boxing not karate, and the preferred striking styles in MMA are boxing and muay thai or acombination of both? To build a house you need a strong foundation. Same goes for fighting skills and karate is neither the best nor the stronger foundation out there.

STFU, seriously. Karate is all stupid and boxing is da best? Take another look at the Daido Juku videos or some Enshin or Kyukushin. These are modern forms of karate, done the way its suppossed to be. They drill, do pad work and spar hard.

Not all karate is what you think. What about Kung Fu? Its all crap too. Unless your talking about the modern San Da training. Its not just Boxing and MT. Those are just the widespread and popular ones.

I have no idea who Mr. Daoust is. I sent an email to the Daidojuku website (daidojuku.com) to ask if they had a contact in Canada, and it was Mr. Daoust who replied (So I'm guessing he's "da man"). I Googled him, and found these results from past tournament results:

    http://www.kyokushinresults.freeserv...ica/NAOpen.htm

    http://www.kyokushincanada.com/Resul...dCham_Iko1.htm

I guess he is in the works of setting up shop in MTL for a regular Kudo progam. If it gets going, I'll make the trip from Ottawa at least once a month for a class!

I didn't find anything online for the Heat & Soul Academy though...

    omg! omg! i wanna join!

But is there a french version to that name? "coeur & esprit" gives me nada on yellow pages. And 'academie' gives me nothing close to that either.

edit: ah well, i sent an email to daidojuku.com myself, so ill see how that pans out
