    The Martial arts are like medicine.

    If it goes down easy and you enjoy the taste your probably not getting any benefit from it. It's the stuff that goes down hard and is horribly bitter that generally gets the job done.

    Said by me to an MA noob when explaining the difference between flashy arts and arts like BJJ.

    I guess I'm a bit of a masochist because I quite enjoy getting dominated in BJJ....it's like candy.....I pray to god no one I train with is reading this....

    That's exactly the point. You might be getting your ass handed to you every week but at least you the techniques you are learning work because they are trained in an alive manner. It's amazing how many people don't understand that.

    Said by a former instructor of mine in response to one of my fellow students saying "Jesus" under his breath when we were told again to go down for more push-ups.

    And yes, he did all the push-ups with us.

    Going down easy may be a red flag, but it's certainly possible to enjoy the taste.
