While pummeling from the knees and such has some value, too often it is kind of lame. Thus unless I'm starting standing I'd rather pick a spot (or have my opponent pick something) and go from there. Cuts out the arm wrestling from the knees.

The way we do these is to have about 3-5 pairs of guys and 3 minute rounds. Whoever is "winning" at the end of the round stays in gets paired up with a fresh body. If someone is submitted/escapes/passes whatever the person that started in bad position goes back to it (for the remainder of the round).
