Martial arts proves dangerous

Here is a reminder that practicing the martial arts can be dangerous -- sometimes even for the martial artist.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were called about 12:30 a.m. this morning to an address near the corner of Mount Holly-Huntersville Road and Brookshire Boulevard, after receiving a report that a man had been stabbed.
Police said they discovered that the victim had been practicing martial arts -- apparently a form of the arts that involves a sword or knife -- and had stabbed himself in the chest accidentally. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was taken by Medic to the hospital with wounds that are not life-threatening, police said.
