I was searching youtube for jiujitsu techniques and this stuff came up. I haven't watched all of the vids yet but they seem to be pretty good. I don't know about the 1st variation of the Komlock because it's shown from inside someones guard, and someone with a good guard might submit you before you pull it off.

I think the guy from the Komlock vid has a bjj rank. I know i have seen his instructional somewhere (i think maybe budovideos.com). I know judo is the base for bjj. Most of us here have seen the Kosen Judo videos posted a couple months back; I just posted these vid's because i found them interesting.

Yrkoon, whats your opinion on the first Komlock vid? I can see the technique being dont from the half guard, but attempting it from inside he full guard seems alittle questionable. No doubt that someone could get it on a total beginner, but against someone with experiance seems like your just asking to be submitted.

I have gone over that in the past. But it doesn't hurt to repeat it. The Ezekial (sleeve wheel) is a viable technique from anywhere.

I choked a guy completely unconscious at the Gameness Open back in '99 from inside his guard. The shock and speed overtook him. In fact, the idea to do it came from a story Marcus told me about how the technique got its name. From a Judo player named Ezekial that came to Brazil and started choking all the brazilians out with it from inside thier guards. He had good base.

Now...fast forward many months later and someone tried to put the Ezekial on me. He had no arms to use to base himself. So I flipped him right over and mounted him. So cool. I was going to sweep him and then armlock him in a smooth ass combination. Something happened though. I passed out. Even from underneath a mount he kept the choke on.

    ....sooo....

While it is a high risk move it definately works. I know that from first hand experience.

I see thanks Yrkoon. I have seen the ezkial done while someone is in your guard, but not done by someone who was inside the guard. I'll have to try that out.

It just kinda goes against what i have been taught. first bjj class i went to i was told, "Never attempt any submissions from inside someone's guard.", but I guess this choke is an exception, if you do it right.

It will most often probably end up with you armbarred or reversed. Occasionally the retarded happens though, intent (as in Yrkoon's example) is often key.

I know some good blues that will make the attempt knowing you'll have to address the choke and who posture correctly to avoid either sweeps or armbars. Thus they're in your guard but you're having to play their game.

This is the choke I most often use and I learned it in Judo. The Komlock video is great and I still use it as a refresher. The techniques are basic and done well so they appeal to my sense of KISS. I am not crazy enough to try it from the bottom or in guard cause I like my elbows. I usually hit it from side control or NS when someone tries to excape and bridge.

Komuro Koji doesn't really train BJJ from my knowledge. He has obviously cross trained a little but he is primarily a Judo newaza player.

I know this goes against everyone's opinions of Judo, but in Japan, it is still very good on the ground.

Ezekial and Baseball Bat were my chokes of the night to teach tonight. It has been a bit since I focused on the Ezekial but as Mongo said I wanted to KISS it tonight since me leading was a last minute thing.

As a carotid choke the Ezekial is a pretty quick good night when set correctly. One of the guys tonight kept bulling the choke and pressuring the **** out of his partners throat and didn't quite get how to wrap for the carotid (I don't think he was paying attention since I demonstrated the different angle and the purpose repeatedly), so I showed him the difference. 3 maybe 4 seconds and the eyes start to roll back just as he taps. He got the point.

It's good to say hello to oldies but goodies sometimes, great choke. I honestly have never tried it from inside the guard though due to the base problem mentioned above, but if it is set, it obviously doesn't matter, i.e, Yrkoon9's example.
