Are high-kicks really useful?

I don't know if this issue has been raised in this thread already or not, but if it hasn't, can we talk about the devastating murderweapons that are shoes?
I imagine most of you don't go around town in English riding boots like I do, but holy ****, I'm just looking at these and thinking about how much it totally suck to get kicked in the brain with them. I mean, are these soles made of wood or some ****? They feel like they're made of wood. And they're super fucking pointy.

I'm wearing some relatively light weight steel toed work boots right now. In addition to the suck factor of being hit with the steel toe, the waffle tread and shoelace hooks would probably not be very pleasant on the face.

Swinging works. Jumping up on high things not so much.

Having fought in the ring and being a bouncer i can tell you in my experience high kicks work in the ring due to there sporting nature, not outside best kick for the street i found was to the knee or lower shin and it was merely to drop someone quickly.

Have you had occasion to kick someone while swinging? Were you swinging from a chandelier at a tuxedoed goon, or swinging from a vine to give the predator the heels, or swinging from an inexplicable chain in a garage while a gang of minorities attacked you one at a time?
