Then you shouldn't have bothered - why commit necromancy if you are going to post nothing of consequence?

Because I though my post was helpful, but obviously it wasn't.

High kicks can be useful when trained properly and timed effectively. CroCop, Hug, Cung Le, and more have shown that it is as good a technique as any. Just one that must be used at the right moment.

Are you two anywhere even REMOTELY near the standard of those two?

If not, the discussion is meaningless and should be left to rot

If you are asking whether or not I am able to perform the high kick, then yes I am.

I will agree that this discussion should end though. Let's all just come to an agreement and say that the high kick is a personal preferance type of attack when fighting. Personally, I find it effective when I use it.

No I am not asking that at all - re-read before responding...

Unless you have the attributes and ability level of a world class kicker then generally you should not bother. I can kick high - and in class/sparring often do. However, in a genuine confrontation it is far too high risk for a result that can be obtained using far easier, quicker and less dangerous techniques

    RIP thread

    Oh RIP your socks.

I'm trying to find a larger copy, but this has to do. It's Oyama nailing Bobbie Lowe (I want to hit him too!!) with a high roundhouse.

And Hannabalistic, I have used high kicks in sd, because they work - high side thrust - the opponent can't tell where it's going to land, and in my case, opponent couldn't even imagine that old fart is about to kick his ass, well, onto his ass, that is. True, I didn't go to the face, but sunk it to the chest - and not too hard, because I didn't want to hurt him, he was going crazy and unarmed. But perhaps this does prove your point. Perhaps I am a world class kicker.

A kick to the chest is not a high kick as far as I'm concerned.
