"There is no substitute for actual combat practice, not just drilling. you can drill all you want and feel smug thinking you are an open handed deadly double secret five animals scars ninja or whatever, but live combat is a whole 'nother ballgame.'"
That about sums it up. Thanks Anthony.

Sure, I posted a simple quiz on a similar "I hate Kungfoolss" thread. My, they do seem to be popping up with increasing frequency here at Bullshido don't they? It's good to be feared by so many, however I digress. Maybe since you seem to know much more than I, Anthony, seeing how you're this BIG martial arts "expert," perhaps you could explain why nobody here seems to be capable or even willing to address my simple quiz. Now, I know there may be a few who are capable such as, Kuntaokid, Sheol, and...and...well, like Kuntaokid and Sheol. I do this to prove a very simple point, you don't know what you're talking about and when push comes to shove, your incessant lies always collapse.
Man, SCARS is potrayed as nothing but BULLSHIDO in that thread. Hit someone here and they will react this way, then do this, and they will do that... But what if they are on Drugs, Alcohol, or just plain old Roid Rage? Interesting points made. I recommend reading this article.

Um, Kungfoolss, your little "quiz" is all well and good, but how does your post have any relevance to what Anthony is saying?
See, I was sparring with my instructor this weekend and he landed a very nice knee to the pit of my stomach, winding me. Except, I kept on fighting for about 10 seconds -- more than enough time to do serious damage or kill if I was vicious enough, or armed. Okay, then I fell over sobbing, and he would have had me.
Drilling is great -- self-perfection is neccesary -- but you can't predict what's going to happen in a fight and you can't prepare with rote excerise.
And as for your quiz: if someone pointed that fucking gun at me I'd put my hands in the air and do whatever he told me to do. Bullet trumps Empty Hand.

I was expecting multiple-choice.
Is there a prize draw or anything ? I could do with holiday.

It has all the relevance in the world to do with this thread. Why you choose not to see it is hardly my concern.Um, Kungfoolss, your little "quiz" is all well and good, but how does your post have any relevance to what Anthony is saying?
What exactly does that prove? That your instructor is incompetent, or (what I tend to believe) you overestimate your abilities and your knowledge. Please explain, what reaction you expected from such a shot to your 'stomach'? To be incapacitated? Of course nothing happened, nobody I know from our system or those with professional knowledge would ever realistically expect such a poorly placed strike zone to stop anyone, even a girl. Besides, this is a ridiculous point, I have no idea whether your instructor penetrated sufficiently to damage or just to stun. The knee strike is extremely powerful, and when you have enough drive and penetration, that shot will stop anyone. Don't fool yourself.See, I was sparring with my instructor this weekend and he landed a very nice knee to the pit of my stomach, winding me. Except, I kept on fighting for about 10 seconds -- more than enough time to do serious damage or kill if I was vicious enough, or armed. Okay, then I fell over sobbing, and he would have had me.
PS. In case I didn't make this clear enough, the stomach IS NOT, I repeat, IS NOT an ideal target. Tell your instructor to knee you as hard as he can to your ribs or solar plex and then come back and tell me you're unstoppable.
No kidding, which is why we don't do repetitive or rote training. You're preaching to the choir here.Drilling is great -- self-perfection is neccesary -- but you can't predict what's going to happen in a fight and you can't prepare with rote excerise.
Uh...right. Great mindset...And as for your quiz: if someone pointed that fucking gun at me I'd put my hands in the air and do whatever he told me to do. Bullet trumps Empty Hand.

What's wrong, you want me to stop responding in this manner because a couple of questions make you look bad? Poor baby. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>KFS,
Make your quiz its own thread. All I personally want is some proof of SCARS in action. Please not the brainwashed stuff on the SCARS site.Kungfoolss, Scourge of the theory-based stylists, Most Feared man at Bullshido.com, and the Preeminent Force in the martial arts political arena -

*pause*
Okay, so I can't quite tell whether you missed my point delibrately or not ... But thanks for the response.
Umm ... just so everyone's on the same page here, my above story is NOT intended to imply I am some sort of unstoppable killing machine. It is merely an illustration of how fighting isn't predictable. I prefer to makes points from personal experience rather than "so and so said this was the right thing to do" or "or my system teaches that this is the right response". I suspect most people would understand this.

KFS,
No, I just think more people would respond a bit more positively if you gave it its own topic. I did not mean for you to feel threatened. On the other hand, you do get attacked quite a lot, so I guess you have a reason to always be defensive. As for you quiz, I don't know what the hell I would do, except shoot the guy before he got that close- I would probably not have that strap around my neck either, but I don't know if that is necessary to fire the thing or not. I don't nor have ever trained machine gun/rifle defense. Also don't worry about me looking bad, this is something you have no control over.
