You can clearly hear one of the announcers in the beginning say "bagua". So it would seem at least one of the stylists is using it.

I'm also surprised that it does look like they are really trying to fight using (what looks like) their traditional stances and hand position. Of course, it also looks like anyone who used simple boxing or wrestling technique could easily overpower them too. So...

The 'Chinese' guy is Korean and has a background in TKD along with a little Judo . The Black guy is a bagua guy. The 'latex' gloves are gardening gloves.

And, btw, how is it a case of "It sucks so it isn't real."? Nobody so far has claimed it isn't real. Also, the previous year they allowed headshots and several competitors were hospitalized. If it suck's it sucks. It is what it is. The colored uniforms let you know which team each guy is on. Blue for America. Yellow for Korea.

p.s. I know this because I was the one who originally put the links up and also because I can speak Chinese and understand a fair bit of what the announcers are saying. The sound quality isn't that good so I still can't make it all out clearly. If you really want to know about the tournament you should go over to emptyflower and ask John Wang who was there.

Well, the announcers says the black guy is doing bagua. He is supposedly one of Park Bok Nam's students and, even if he actually tries to walk circles around his opponent like a moron, it's clearly a bagua stance.

Was it some IMA apologist who claimed it wasn't bagua. It may be shitty bagua but you can't get around it, it IS bagua. Hey, at least he's competing full contact.

While there was a lot that was completely horrible about the clip I think this was also a case where the rules also made things look even worse than they might have otherwise. Some of the straight punches would likely have been quite a bit more effective if delivered to the head, that's a rule I can't see as ever helping someone's ability.

Consensus, they sucked.
