The view of the martial artist has changed over the years. Not to long ago, people thought those who studied martial arts were crazy tuff guys, who you wouldn't want to mess with. Now and days we are seen as a disciplined person of outstanding morals brought about the teachings of the ancient art. People, we are not bullet proof or above being human. We just people who, for some odd reason, choose to abuse ourselves to better ourselves.

Now this whole street reality **** that I keep hearing all the time just really blows my mind. How many of us have gotten into desperate street fighting situations. If you are brawling on the street on a constan basis, then brothers and sisters you need to start smiling more or up the ridlyn.

We are held up to a certain standard in the public's eye just like a cop or fireman. People preceive to act a certain way. However, as I said, we are human and will make mistakes.

Hate to get all semantic here, but:

"martial arts" is an ACTIVITY.
"martial artist" is more of a STATEMENT OF IDENTITY.

I like what Phrost wrote, he is talking in regards to the context of IDENTITY, that is, people who PRACTICE martial arts, in the bigger picture, are PRIVATE CITIZENS (who pursue the ACTIVITY of practising martial arts).

Also he is talking about the values within the art and thier relationship to the bigger picture (whihc has its own values - ie THE LAW, THE VALUES OF THE SOCIETY ETC).

blah blah.

Personally, I think 'martial artists' should just flip out and cut as many heads off as possible, everyday, all day.
