    Hell yeah! Hell no!
This website used to controled by mixed martial artist.

Now its like every TMA guy from around the world comes here and talks about there deadly art.

Even though we know if it was really deadly we would see it in the UFC or something like it over seas with no rules.

I guess like everyone else i dont feel like fighting a billion people who swear that there TKD master could kill everyone in the ufc with some flying kick or chi bolt.

What went wrong, the battle is starting to go the wrong way.

    Shut the **** up youngin'.

If you want to start a MMA vs. tradional thread (like the 2000 that have already been started), at least start it with SOME kind of sensible post.

    Define Mixed Martial art.

JKD is already a mixed Martial art.

Krav Maga (from what I've heard) is ready mixed.

Escrima concepts encorporates a lot of western weapons. Not sure if that constitutes mixed though as the theory/concepts are the same regardless of weapon origin.

I'd just like to get some idea as to definition. where would something like Kyokushin fall? TMA I guess.

Both striking and grappling are needed.

Don't stick to any traditions, do what's right for you.

Things need to be tested against a resisting opponent, in training or competition.

Be very warey of anyone claiming to be "Too deadly", even if by some strange twist of fate they were (cough), when on earth is it ever going to be neccassary to kill the other guy ? It'd be like me telling you I can walk on water, not showing you, and then asking YOU to prove ME wrong.

Well, up to a certain extent, most MA's are already adapting several techniques outside of their repertoire for use in sparring/self defence.

My TKD teacher also incorporates some JJ/Pencak Silat grappling and arm control into his curriculum.

My JJ teacher also focusses on some Karate (Kyokushin) for striking.

My Pencak Silat teacher just teaches Pencak Silat, but that stuff has good range coverage either way.

    It's not uncommon.

I think Mr Windu has very good opinions, he doesn't fall for any bullshit.

Sure, and L. Ron Hubbard was a great humanitarian who never wanted to create his own religion for money.

I'll chime in here for a second...

I've kind of wondered the same thing. Not about TMA's so much, but more about Krav Maga. What's up with that?

People bust on SCARS up and down on this site, but I always figured Krav Maga was about the same thing. Another "street" art that is too deadly to use in competition.

I mean, go mention Krav on R-MA and you'll get an earfull (eyefull, really). Why does it get a pass here?

    Regards,
    Matt
