    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Traing yourself physically. Do cardio/running/ swimming. Do pushups, crunchs, chin-ups, squats. Get weights or go to a gym if possible. You can make the best out of any art you take when you are in good physical condition, make that top physical condition.
i'm in pretty good shape and weightrain regularly. i've realized that size, strength and reach don't mean much unless you know how to use it.

"at this point i'm leaning towards a cross training in BJJ and Boxing."
    have you research these arts?
    have you considered their strenths/weaknesses?
both these are leave some GAPPING holes in your all around fighting techniques....hmm that didn't make much sense
i've obviously not done enough research... Boxing because it'll help with foot movement and how to properly take/throw a punch. BJJ because i'd rather immobilize than fight and because everyone i've talked to says it's the most effective style.

"JKD and Krav Maga are also options i'm considering."
good options, apparently quality of these schools vary,
i like JKD because apparently some teach MT, Kali and BJJ together. i can't seem to find any Krav Maga schools in my city (Vancouver).

    Smurf God,

Just do your homework. Yes, research all of these arts, but don't limit your scope to these.

Find as much info as you can. Ask questions, read books, watch classes. Then make your decision. Even test a few arts just for fun. Because, it really boils down to what works for you - what you feel comfortable with.

As for coming here to this forum....you've made the right choice.

Zinck's Martial Arts Centere in West Vancouver teaches Krav Maga. It's probably an affiliate school and only be able to teach upto Phase I/Level I. but since it is a martial arts school you should inquire what else they have available. If they have some of the suggestions that others made here it would be an ideal place for you to crosstrain.
