The rules we use for full contact sparring are pretty much the same as the ones Kuntao kid metioned. The additional (Similar in some ways) ones we have:

    No destructions
    No kicks to the knee..

Testicle strikes are permitted if the guy is wearing a box. Diffrent people wear diffrent amounts of protection. We all have to wear gloves and gum shields are strongly encouraged. anything above and beyond these is personal preference. Some people wear head guards, boxes, etc Although the more protection you wear the harder people will feel free to hit you.

Those of a lower grade like myself are encouraged to "put in" more vicious strikes on the senior students. If they get hit by them its thier fault as they should be able to "handle it".

we basically don't strike anything which cannot be fixed...no smashing knees, eyes, throats...groin kicks are par for the course. In krav there are alot of head shots...so i wear a mouthpiece...other than that...

Semi contact,no drawing blood(which rules out most face attacks), no attacks to groin.

We used to spar at my old jkd place avoiding nut kicks, but accidental ones were deemed ok, no knees to the face an no unprotected elbows to the head. Takedowns were encouraged but gripping/crushing/bending back of fingers was frowned upon (purely because a badly staved finger can be a real pain in the ass. The mma i do now we have to be caeful with the takedowns cause we cant get the hall with the mats at our trianing time anymore( hopefully this will be remedied soon).
When drunk with my mates we normally grapple, with stiking to the body and limbs allowed but not the head and nuts, victory by submission only

It seems that this is a pretty common way of going about it in many Japanese derived ma's. The idea is that a strike that would immobilize or at least stun you if done full contact without padding is acknowledged and taken as a reset point. My personal feeling is that we ought to go higher contact and make sure that's the case (stunning etc.) and if so those that want to continue in that manner should do so. I think it is obvious from sporting events in particular that you can be stunned and still protect yourself enough that you'll be able to continue fighting. There are enough other things that I like about my school and teacher that offset this disagreement though.

As a side note once when in Wastrel's guard he started popping me in the face. I changed position to avoid this and thanked him, the courtesy ingrained by TMA's <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>
