That was odd. I don't know if you've seen the Movie or not, but maybe Mixed Martial Arts is finally getting into Hollywood, (minus Jet Li beating the shyt out of 10 MMA guys) Anyways, Tyrese (Roman Pierce) takes a shot at Paul Walker (Brian) and they tussle and end up on the ground where Paul Walker puts him on a guard and chokes him out. Probably the best part of an otherwise boring movie..... Wait Eva Mendez's ass was the best part of the movie...

Considering the subject matter, I thought this thread was a gay joke.

    Interesting.

Brandeis, the guard predates BJJ. According to one source (which of course, I'll do my best to provide info on) it was a technique used by the Samurai to hold down an enemy soldier in combat so someone from your side could hack into him while he was helpless.

Subsequently, it was taught to the Gracies by Maeda(sp?) as a part of the JJJ techniques he showed them.

Because MMA is a all encompassing term for people who wear spandex while beating the tard out of each other. Last time I checked BJJ was an integral part of MMA?

If it was MMA, Tyrese would've started to pound the **** out of Walker.

And you don't put people "on" the guard.
