ugghh what else is new with hollywood! wtf!
    same old story:
caucasian male comes to strange exotic country, learns the ways of the masters, becomes an expert, gets with a stereotypical submissive asian girl/or 'rescues' her from her culture, beats up all the asian male antagonists, and lives happily ever after.

    Here are some examples:

    Karate Kid II
    Kickboxer
    Shogun (1980)
    etc...

i'd like to see tom cruise go to borneo and be eaten alive only to return as a wise samuri who must fly to california in order to bring back a crip (whose dying cousin last words were "Me, i don't like NYC) to nyc in order to prevent another terrorist attack at the hoover damn by the dali lama. Wanna see the script?

"I would prefer if this weren't just another "exciting stuff in the non-white world starring a white guy" film. Couldn't the protaganist be fucking Japanese for cryin out loud?"

I was under the impression it is based on a guy teaching them how to use guns for the first time. Since Japanese didn't know how to use them, how could you have a Japanese teach them? Kind of a catch 22 eh?

    Oh, come on, guys!

Honestly, how many of you sold your souls, broke down and saw that new Matrix flick?

If you can do that, then this film definitely deserves a chance.

Oh, and an interesting point, Miguksaram....

The Japanese didn't actually get introduced firearms until 1592 when the Portugese landed there. It was then that they were introduced to the arquebus

Fair enough Miguk. Still sick of that type of movie. Probably that last one I truly enjoyed was "Little Big Man", but that being said, I am a sucker for period Japanese war movies, so I'll probably see it.
