Actor sues paper over 'indecent' story

    By MAGDALEN CHOW

A self-proclaimed disciple of the late kung fu legend Bruce Lee yesterday launched a defamation claim against Apple Daily newspaper following "indecent" allegations concerning his private life.

Actor Stephen Au Kam-tong, who is also a martial arts teacher and consultant, claims in the High Court writ that the newspaper article published on May 5 was false or reckless and caused him distress and embarrassment. "The publication of the words has gravely injured the reputation and character of the plaintiff," and he had suffered a loss of business, the writ says. The defendants named in the writ are Apple Daily Limited, the newspaper's proprietor and publisher; Apple Daily Printing Limited; editor Tsui Ngam; and reporter Kelly Check Mei-kuen.

Mr Au is seeking an unspecified sum of damages, including aggravated damages for libel, exemplary damages and an injunction.

Unknown, the "offending" article may have been removed due to the lawsuit or the article may have just been discarded. Many online news articles are never archived and simply disappear.

Maybe someone else knows a bit more about it.

Mr. Au, in true Bruce Lee fashion, is merely trying to "Absorb what is useful."

Grim, hard, cold words, heartless and miserable. The night was railing against the morning of which it was bereaved, and the cold was cursing the warmth for which it hungered.
